The 1st Metadata Workshop for digital heritage 3D content was organised as part of the DFG 3D-Viewer project and held at the LUX Pavillon in Mainz. The workshop brought together specialists working with 3D models in the context of cultural heritage to present a customized approach of repositories and infrastuctures around 3D models and conduct metadata mapping between the presented schemes (Fig. 1).
Invitations for participation were accepted by Representatives of the IDOVIR, Semantic Kompakkt, baureka.online, and FID BAUdigital projects, as well as the digital repository of the Heidelberg University Library – heidICON (Fig.2).
The workshop was also enriched by a lecture from Ronald Haynes, the Chair of the IIIF 3D Community Group, discussing the challenges of standardising 3D models and the role of IIIF in this process.
